Norway believes the indigenous peoples and civil society must play an important role in designing and implementing REDD+ both at the national and international levels, and encourages all stakeholders to participate in the process and provide inputs.

The work of establishing the interim REDD+ partnership will be completed through an open and inclusive process prior to the meeting in Oslo. We invite comments from all countries and stakeholder groups on the draft partnership document  from April 28 until – May 12 at noon. Please forward your comments to ocfc2010@md.dep.no . All comments will be published on our website unless you explicitly request anonymity.

It is important to bear in mind that the Oslo Climate and Forest Conference does not represent an ending point, but must be seen as the beginning of a process to maximize coordination, transparency and efficiency of REDD+ actions and support. The operationalization of this Partnership will take shape in the months and even years after Oslo. In that process, there will be plenty of opportunity for civil society to engage and impact on the partnership.

Before Oslo, we aim at exchanging ideas and information through a series of conference calls. We will inform you about these calls if you wish to participate. Please e-mail Kristine Senland (kse@md.dep.no ) if you wish to participate in these calls. We are also distributing a periodic newsletter keeping interested stakeholders informed as the process evolves.

A representative group of indigenous peoples and civil society has also been invited to attend the Oslo Climate and Forest Conference (list available HERE ). Unfortunately, we will not be able to extend further invitations. The conference calls and commentary of the Partnership document is therefore the best way to make your views known to us. Do bear in mind that no further amendments will be made to the Partnership document at the conference, this will all be finalised by May 27.
